Mentorship
Program

Mentoring

The mentoring program is MAWY’s longest-standing initiative and has been highly successful, embodying the core values of our organization. Mentors are usually professionals in the student's field of interest, though this is not a strict requirement. Initially, mentees meet with their mentors one-on-one for 30-minute sessions 1-2 times a month. As the program progresses, meetings are held quarterly. These sessions can be either in-person or virtual. At the end of each month, reports are submitted to the leadership team. Mentor files are reviewed and used to assess eligibility and participation in other MAWY programs.

Accountability Partner (AP) Program

Accountability

Each student is paired with an Accountability Partner (AP), who is thoughtfully chosen based on compatibility and fit. APs are expected to communicate at least once a month, though they can connect as often as needed. The role of the AP is to offer mutual support and hold each other accountable for personal, professional, and spiritual growth by embracing and applying the MAWY Empowerment Approach. If a challenge arises that cannot be addressed at the AP level, it is escalated to the mentor for further guidance. This program helps students develop problem-solving skills and equips them with strategies for navigating obstacles.

Community Service Projects

Pick A Need

At MAWY, we believe that giving is more rewarding than receiving. Our goal is to help members learn how to identify families in the community who are in need, plan fundraising events, and provide services to support them. While MAWY provides guidance and support for this initiative, the process of identifying needs, organizing events, and carrying out services is led entirely by the scholars. This hands-on approach, led by the members themselves, is designed to instill selflessness and teach the value of serving others.

Tutoring

Stronger Together

MAWY promotes educational advancement by providing funding for supplemental tutorial services, while also fostering and encouraging peer-to-peer tutoring within the program. This dual approach supports individualized learning needs and strengthens collaboration among students.

MAWY Leadership Program

Leaders for tomorrow

MAWY fosters leadership development by assigning leadership roles to the older youths in the program, providing them with opportunities to learn responsibility, service, and effective leadership. This approach helps them build essential skills while actively contributing to the success of the program and its initiatives.

Professional LINKAGE Program

A Walk in My Shoes

We integrate professional shadowing into the program through virtual lectures and hands-on experience by connecting MAWY members with professionals, companies, and institutions. This provides valuable exposure and practical learning opportunities that help members gain insights into various fields and career paths.
